With Miles to go Before I Sleep
After a couple months out of the pool during the winter, I've spent the summer rebuilding the distance that I cover during a lunch hour workout. Today I finished my first mile. The real crunch here isn't the distance, it's the time. I probably spend as much time walking to and from the pool as I do in the water. But hey, that's a pretty great problem to have to be honest.
So yeah, my workout covered 1650 yards today. And my average pace is quick enough to cover quite a bit more distance in the same time, if I switch from sets of many short swims to sets of fewer, longer swims. Which means significantly increasing my endurance. Yay for endurance!
Um, I'm not sure what this has to do with IT work. But I do know that taking some time away from the monitor and just concentrating on a simple task for a while really clears out my head and makes my afternoons much more productive. So this is like a 'lifehacker' style tip - work out at lunch and have great afternoon coding sessions.
