Silicon Valley Coffee Shops
Gotta love the south San Jose Coffee Society. I'm sitting here, plugged in, logged in, listening in on a group of sysadmins kvetching about work. Which is pretty cool, but not different from what you can get at any Starbuck's near a major employer. What's different here is that the sysadmins are all women in their mid to late 40's who are sewing while they chat. Just like any other sewing circle, except that the subjects being discussed include repartitioning hard disks and the latest survey on tech support dissatisfaction from Information Week magazine.
How'd the old Palmolive detergent ads go?
"Hey Marge, have you seen the newest spam filter? No? You're soaking in it."This place is like no other. And even though I miss being next to the ocean, I do have to admit it's pretty cool here too.
