My first Yahoo! Oktoberfest Mug
Have I mentioned that Yahoo! is a great place to work? Over the weekend little gnomes visited everyone's cube leaving behind branded mugs advertising next week's Oktoberfest / earnings announcement party.
Though I have no idea what the earnings announcement might include, I can pretty much guarantee the pseudo-Oktoberfest party we'll have will be more fun than the SF Oktoberfest I went to over the weekend (which consisted of - showing up to a sea of drunken frat boys, finding out that the event was sold-out, and getting out of the way of the arriving paramedics as someone inside had apparently been shanked).
Of course, the day wasn't a total waste. My friends and I went out to dinner at Flippers, and then for drinks at Zeitgeist. The conversations were fun, if completely silly, and the parking was actually super close at both locations.
In conclusion - SF Oktoberfest isn't worth attending (unless you're a drunken frat boy), good friends make changing your plans on the fly into an easy and enjoyable evening, and Yahoo! is my current all-time favorite job.
